She yearns for his love....
Sounds like a quote from the middleages. How they respect womenfolk (not)
yes, the latest watchtower is upon us.
it opens with a typically outlandish article on marriage.
here are a few of the headlines:.

i am new to this board.
i have never really been in touch with jw until just recently and have a question:.
uk congregations: are the trustees at the same time elders and can a trustee or elder be inactive?.
Though many years ago, I was a trustee whilst " only" being a MS ( accounts servant).
When I was DFd I was obviously deleted as being a trustee, though I was never notified of that action being taken.
Maybe your friend was a trustee, but is no longer, without his having been informed.
an elder approached a mate of mine saying that they have to meet up with him soon because he has been baptised a year and it's time for his review?
anyone has heard of that?
they are really pissing me off :/.
Maybe its like the yearly control that they do on cars. Will he get a certificate afterwards?
after a terrible break up and being away from the congregation for about 10yrs i started to think about coming back.
i couldnt even watch the news anymore because of the termendous anxiety it would cause.
i felt that there was a target on my back and the big a would surely come before i could get my act together.
Welcome to the board wishIdidntknow.
Many of us have felt a little fear when watching the news: what if it really is the truth? What if armageddon is very close?
These feelings are normal, not just to us, but to any ex cult member. The reality is, jws org plays on fear.
Did you go back mainly for this reason, fear of the big one?
You know that we are all going to die one day. But it wont be because of armagedon. Doing research, you will find that the end of the world has been predicted hundreds of times in the last few centuries. We are still here.
The important thing is, to live before you die.
I want to know that my life is real
And feel the things I need to feel,
I want to grow, I want to thrive,
I want to live before I die!

i'm scanning through some of the results from the 2012 jw survey as they're coming in.. the most populous of the six voting categories with 76 voters so far is my own category, for those who are inactive, or "faded/fading" (not disfellowshipped or da'd, but no longer reporting time on the ministry).. one statistic already leaping out at me surrounds the question "do you experience 'pre-emptive shunning' from active witnesses, who view you as 'bad association'?
" of the 74 who voted on this so far, 76% have answered "yes" to this question.. it's early days, and obviously i will have a clearer picture of the extent of the problem once the survey closes at the end of the year.
however, the results already in suggest that pre-emptive shunning is widespread among inactive ones, despite this not being an "official" policy of the society.. i was interested in your opinions as to why this may be?
I was shunned by a certain more distant member of my family, before my JC ( which I did not attend).
Official WT policy is/Was, that you do not shun someone until after the public anouncement is made.
The idea is that the person has seven days to appeal, or even change his mind, sorry repent.
Incidently, this person has since been disfellowshipped/ reinstated/ sexually abused a child,
NOT disfellowshipped for that, etc etc
This person is a deviant. He didnt follow WT "guidelines", but in fact doesnt follow any normal guidelines.
Maybe the "less" faithful dont really understand what the are " supposed" to do.

titanic, was not paying attention to the ice lanes, and..... .
"Dont worry. Your perfectly safe with us."
been lurking for a bit, and feel safe enough now to tell my story (condensed).. i'm a third-generation born-in, but my parents were inactive for most of my upbringing.
this means i got the worst of both worlds--no worldly friends (home schooled all but grades 2-3), no witness friends (since we never went to the hall except for memorial), and a generally isolated upbringing in a tiny, tiny town.
needless to say, my emotional, social, and personal growth were stunted.
Welcome I want to believe. You will find people who understand here. Good luck on your voyage of discovery.
i've been lurking on this forum for over a year, and i thought i'd say a quick hello.. .
i was raised as a jehovah's witness and managed to endure past the encouragement that one receives from age 16 onwards about what is holding me back, and never got baptised.
i figured that making one of the most important decisions of my life requires a lot more thought than people seemed to be giving it, and shouldn't be based on emotion as is quite common.. .
Welcome to the board freshcrepes.
You say:
I'm not sure what a university education can give me except a certification confirming that I've learnt something. The information is more important than the certification to me at the moment. What do you think?
Unfortunately its what the employer thinks that counts. I have moved to a country where a diploma is crucial to holding many positions on the employment ladder. I have just passed a university degree at 50 years old.
Fortunately, my employer sponsored me. It is only a piece of paper, but as my boss said, so is a driving licence.
yup.
let's begin.. i went to the kingdom hall yesterday for the first time in awhile.
the public talk was something like "trust in jehovah" and the speaker (whom i know personally and is a tad "off") was rambling on about the persecution that we are going to face imminently.
Greetings Mr falcon.
Like you, as a young boy, I was scared of the day when we would be tortured horribly, and back then we were told
that it was surely coming. But now I'm grown up, I wonder " do they really believe they are that important?
